Personal Reference Letter Of Recommendation Rudiments
Personal Reference Letter Of Recommendation
Until the early eighties, employment references worked and served their purpose relatively well. They tended to be very candid and were sometimes too honest. However, in recent years, faculty, administrators, and employers do not tend to provide frank information about their former students and employees, either verbally or in writing.
Unless it is absolutely relevant, do not state the applicant's race, religion, national origin, age, disability, gender or marital status. Don't be too brief. One or two short paragraphs are death to a recommendation letter. On the other hand, be succinct. Make every word count.
Follow these steps to be fair to everyone involved:
* Letters of recommendation are typically written within a professional context, so word processing is generally the preferred medium. * Once you have gathered your information together to write the letter, set aside one to two hours to write it. * Start wrapping it up with a recommendation to hire.
Reference Letter Example:
I am pleased to recommend Name for a position in your company.
Name is one of the top students in my class. She received the highest grade in the class during the fall semester which was one of the highest grades I have ever awarded. Name’s class participation indicates an enthusiasm for the subject and a passion to persue it. Name is also active in several student organizations. Name is well liked by her fellow students.
Name is an intelligent and conscientious student. The written work he did for my class was always well above average. He displayed an ability to express her ideas clearly and concisely on paper. He is very articulate in the classroom setting.
Name was a student in my class this last semester. His frequent and enthusiastic participation in class discussion as well as his probing inquiries outside of class demonstrated the seriousness and dedication with which he approaches his schooling. On a personal note, Name possesses a quick wit and a warm personality.
For all these reasons, I can highly recommend Name without reservation for your program. I know that he will perform well and be an asset to your program. Please feel free to contact me regarding this letter or my impressions of Name.
